RECENT CALLS:  We've had a busy September.  50 calls for service as of this morning. Baring any calls today, September has been our slowest month this year. However, this past month may have seen the most serious calls and the most Desk Boxes struck in a single month. We ran on three Desk Box 8 calls. Two were successful. With the help of the State Police, we revived a patient who overdosed. We resuscitated an elderly man who had a faint pulse and wasn't breathing. He was talking with the crew before we got to SMHC. There was the one overdose that, despite our best efforts, didn't go how we wished. We nearly delivered a baby this week. We ran the usual trauma calls to MX207, we covered an MVA on Route 5, where we got to meet some very interesting individuals. And at the same time covered a call in Lyman that turned out to be cocaine induced seizures. We saved a home on South Waterboro Road, Desk Box 82. That fire was handled with textbook precision. And as usual, we handled the standard variety of calls. CO, MVAs, lift assists, unattended fires, suicidal persons, etc, etc.  The Association washed cars to raise money, we married off our Rookie of the Year and ate lobster the next day. We did all this with team work and purpose.  I have often said that all of you make this community a better place to live. I truly believe that. Thank you for all that you do!
----
ATTENTION TO DETAIL: Progress has been made on the attention and accuracy given to our equipment check lists.  However, we still fall a little short. If something is missing, take action to get it replaced. Open a "supplies needed" work order or write the item on the white board.    Details.
----
FRONT YARD:  I want to extend a big thank you to Scott Littlefield and Black Magic Seal Coating
for donating your time and equipment to seal coat the front yard. Scott did the work for cost of material only. The yard not only looks great, it will preserve the pavement for a few more years.
FFs Cole and Boucher engineered the angled parking spots and painted the white and yellow lines. There work was well supervised, if you saw the Facebook photo.
----
ENGINEERS' TIME:  Thursday, Oct. 19th  at 1830 and Sunday, Oct, 22nd at 0900, Engrs Robert and Smith along with Lt Steiner, will be holding training on EVO2 and 3 skills. Also, tasks like, operating at a chimney fire (yeah, it's that time of year again), operating the water way, or anything else you would like to work on, practice or see operate.  Training with a purpose.
----
SIXTEEN FIREFIGHTER LIFE SAFETY INITIATIVES: The 16 initiatives were developed in 2004 with the goal of ensuring Everyone Goes Home.  Take some time to learn about these.
The first of the 16 talks about Cultural Change within the fire service. Safety needs to be the bedrock of what we do. https://www.everyonegoeshome.com/16-initiatives/1-cultural-change/
