Concealed weapons:  There's been a lot of discussion in the EMS arena over the new concealed carry law. There appears to be a push to create more policies around this new law. (I compare it to the Ebola breakout a year ago.)  Patents carrying isn't something we come across very often. Will there be an increase with the new law? Perhaps. I really don't expect much change. However, like everything else we do, there's always the possibility and it is something we need to be prepared for.
----
New laws: In addition to the concealed carry law, a couple other laws became effective this week. It is now illegal to sell or possess powdered alcohol or "Palcohol" in Maine. The use of E-cigarettes is only authorized in places where traditional tobacco cigarettes are allowed.
----
Hill Road:  The Alfred Road end is near completion. All that's left is to install the traffic light. Construction at the South St. end of  Hill Road is just beginning. It will be closed to through traffic next week. Emergency vehicles will be allowed through.
----
Pump Testing: Engines 81 and 84 will go out for pump testing on Thursday.
