CONFIDENCE:  The second part of our training mantra of Competence, Confidence and Readiness. These are traits that each of us needs to reflect on from time to time.  Are you confident in your skills as an EMT, Firefighter or EVO? Are those you work with confident in you?  What are you doing to maintain or improve your confidence?  One definition of confidence is "...the feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something".
----
Firefighter Helmets:  I've noticed some black reflectors on black helmets. NFPA 1971 section 7.4.15 is very specific on the color of the reflectors on firefighter's helmet. Basically, they have to be a contrasting color to the color of the helmet. Black on black is not contrasting. If you are wearing black reflective stickers on your helmet, replace them immediately! Our standard color will be fluorescent yellow-green.  General Notice 16-1425 refers.  Also regarding helmets, if you're planning on purchasing your own helmet, leather or otherwise, ensure the helmet is compliant with NFPA 1971.  Don't waist your money on something you can't use. We issue you, for free, an NFPA compliant Cairns 1010 or 1040. Very good helmets. Anyway, prior to purchasing a helmet I strongly suggest to get some input from one or our Captains or other senior officer.
