Fire Prevention Week: Great job by all involved! Roughly, 150 people attended the open house Wednesday night. Thanks go out to Hannaford Biddeford, Fully Involved LLC, Bear Hugs Preschool for providing the door prizes. The GMFRA provided the pop corn and refreshments. The Sparky suite and fire extinguisher trainer were loaned to us by Biddeford and Saco Fire Departments. We spent all day Tuesday at Lyman Elementary and all day Thursday at Dayton School doing the fire safety classes for each grade. Thanks again to Captain Lang for getting it organized.
Who knows what this year's fire prevention week theme was?
----
EMS Legal class (DATE CHANGE): The new date for this class is November 3rd. A 1500 session and an 1800 session. Attend either, no need to attend both. This class will focus on legal aspects of dealing with impaired people. The class will be taught by Allan Azzara who is an attorney and an EMT. The class should run roughly an hour.
----
Officer's Meeting: Our next officer's meeting will be at 1800 on November 3rd. EMS Legal aspects of the first hour, agenda items on the second hour.
----
Chief's Call (DATE CHANGE): The next Chief's Call will be at 1830 on November 1st.
----
CDL Class: This Sunday from 0830 to 1230 at Go Driving in Saco.
----
Extrication Drill: Sunday October 23rd. 0800.  We had originally planned to do live fire in Hollis, however, we haven't done any extrication training in a long time. We'll be at Copart for this training. Our plan is to have it done by noon. There's a sign up on the bulletin board.
----
PD/FT Meeting: On October 19th at 1600, I've asked all our full-time Firefighters and our primary per diem staff to meet with me to discuss daily routine, cleaning, equipment checks, etc. Anyone may attend.
----
Ambulance 86:  I found out this morning that there's a delay in Ford chassis. Our chassis may not arrive at the factory until November. We're probably looking at a March delivery.
----
Student Advocate: FF Rocky Sanfilippo will be our student advocate. Similar to the role that Zac Storey filled in the past. Rocky is not a supervisor, but a resource outside regular the chain of command. Academic matters, station routine, living conditions, or any other matters that a student may not feel comfortable bringing to a fire officer, Rocky will help out with.
----
Junior activity: So that we remain compliant with Maine youth employment laws and Directive 2191, Juniors are not to be at the station after 1800 or before 0700 or during the hours school is in session. The exception to this rule would be when a scheduled department function is going on, and when that function is supervised by a fire officer.  See General Notice 16-1432.
----
Red Light Authorization Permits: By State Law, Title 29-A, in order to display and/or operate a red light on your personal vehicle a permit from the Fire Chief is required. This is not new. It's been this way for decades. We need to get our department in compliance. So, I have Red Light Permits. Please see me and I'll issue you one.  See General Notice 16-1431 and Title 29-A ss 2054.
----
Shirt Order:  Just in time for Christmas.....FF Jake Cole is putting together an order for shirts. A sign up is on the bulletin board. Red and Navy, long sleeve $21 Short sleeve $13.
