ARMAND PAQUETTE:  Deputy Chief Armand Paquette of the Saco Fire Department (Retired), passed away recently. Services will be on Monday, 10/31.  We've been asked to provide a cover truck to Saco Central on Monday morning.  A crew for Engine 84 is needed. We need one EMT/FF, One FF and One Fire Officer. We already have an EVO2.  Please email or call me if you can support.

CONGRATULATIONS to Jake and Kathleen Cole (Dawson, too) on becoming homeowners!  They're moving into their new house this weekend.
----
RAFFLE WINNER:The winner of the GMFRA raffle is Kim Southworth of Waterboro.
A great thanks to Bars Open Farm Gun Works of Lyman for donating the Rugar 308 prize and to LT Daniels for organizing the whole thing!
----
HALLOWEEN CANDY:  Looking for candy donations for Trick or Treat at the station on Halloween.
----
COMPUTER UPGRADE:  The computer system upgrade has been completed. All our computers now run on Windows 10.  When you log on for the first time, there will be a delay while the computer sets you up. There are also some specific instructions for linking to Data Trac. These instructions are in each office.
----
BASIC FIRE SCHOOL: On Tuesday at 1800, just before the Chiefs Call, I'd like to have a meeting with those interested in coordinating, instructing or assisting with doing an in-house Basic Fire School.  I'm looking for Instructor I's, Firefighter II's (with experience) and officers.
----
CHIEF'S CALL: Tuesday, 11/1 at 1830. GMFRA meeting will follow.
----
EMS LEGAL ASPECTS CLASS: Thursday, 11/3.  First session is a 1500 and the encore at 1800.
----
RECENT CODE: Great job to Jake Cole, Nicki Fowlie and Jason Willette on handling the code on Thursday morning.  Jake was very calm and collected on the radio, called for the right resources and organized the "pit crew".  As other responders arrived they were easily integrated into the operation, great job by everyone involved! While the end result wasn't what we had hoped for, the efforts and tasks were assigned and completed exactly as they should be.
----
LOGS and RECORDS:  Last week I mentioned the importance of record keeping from more of a CYA perspective. Another aspect of the records we keep is that they are legal documents. Making a negligent or false entry in a log, report or record could be a fire-able, or even a criminal offense in certain circumstances. Our SCBA logs will be scrutinized if we were to ever have an accident involving a Firefighter in an IDLH. Should we ever have a vehicle accident, our truck checks may very well be reviewed during an investigation. Each of us has to be very accurate and detailed when completing equipment checks.
----
AMBULANCE 86:  Construction of our new ambulance started on Tuesday. It is scheduled to be completed somewhere around January 20, 2017.  We will soon start receiving pictures as it progresses through production.
----
