Recent Calls:  Great job everyone on the woods fire on Roberts Pond Rd on Monday. On arrival we had approximately half an acre going in thick woods about 500 feet behind a home. The fire grew to about 3/4 of an acre by the time we had it controlled. The cause of the fire a permitted fire the day before. Not completely extinguished. This matter was referred to the Maine Forest Service.
We stretched 1800 feet of forestry hose and 150 feet of 2-1/2 & 3 inch. Not sure how much water we hauled.
On Tuesday,  1622 to ABC Road in Lyman. Great job by the first arriving crews. The fire was contained to the living room with minor damage to one wall and flooring. Cause of this fire was a heat lamp and a cardboard box. The box contained baby chicks. No casualties, with the exception of the chickens. The family is able to remain in the home.  This is the second fire this month involving fowl, heat lamps and cardboard boxes.

As of 0830 this morning, we've run 317 calls for service. Last year on this day we had run 270 calls.

Our PPE ensembles have become more and more capable of protecting us. Our PPE still has limits, and the SCBA facepiece has been and will likely continue to be our weakest link. Make sure you understand the limits of your equipment and how to inspect it to ensure it’s ready for the heat of battle.
