Hand guns: During our meeting with the State Police last week, the topic of patients carrying was discussed. What do we do with the weapon? The advice was; handle the weapon as little as possible. If it's holstered, leave it holstered. Cut the patient's belt if you need to remove it. Secure it in a cabinet in the ambulance. If you're going to turn it over to a Trooper or Hospital Security, have an officer come to the ambulance (or to the patient) to get it. Don't go walking around with it. Bottom line; handle the weapons as infrequently as possible.

Training Program: The Deputy has done a great job putting together binders for regular training. The idea is to have a self-paced program that meets department needs, with an individual's available time. This SOG outlines the program. SOG 3201 Our website contains more info
https://sites.google.com/site/gmillsfr/fire-rescue     In the OPS Room you'll find an Orange binder, labeled by quarter. In it are the training topics for that quarter broken out by month. Review the material, take the quiz (yes a quiz), sign the roster. This does not replace monthly training nights. On training nights the emphasis will be on "hands on" training and skills.
