Weekly Update for Friday, June 17, 2016

OPEN SHIFTS: JULY:  Sat 7/9 0700-1900; Fri 7/22 0700-1900; Mon 7/25 0700-1900; Tue 7/26 0700-1900; Thu 7/28 0700-1900. AUGUST:  None so far.  SEPTEMBER: Sat 9/3 0700-1900.

Town Meeting Results: All FD articles passed in both towns. A replacement ambulance is a go. A 2% wage increase will take affect on July 1.

Ambulance RFPs:  Review and comparison of RFPs will be completed by June 21st. I will take  my recommendation to the fire commission on June 23rd. Once I get the OK from the commission, I'll order a new ambulance.

Fiscal Year End:  The fiscal (money) year ends on June 30th. Our last accounts payable was processed this week. Between now and June 30th only urgent and operationally necessary purchases will be made.

New Members: We have several new members. We have two Juniors stepping up. Jake Boyden is now a Sr. FF, Jake Bixby promotes on June 24th. Both are graduates of the Sanford RTC Firefighter II and EMT programs. One new Fire-Police, Bob Jude, who is retired from Kennebunk PD. Two new firefighter candidates Shawn Pendleton and Tony Disanto. Both are coming from other FDs and are interior qualified. We also have one more firefighter candidate, Steve Szostek who's interview is scheduled for this Monday.  Two new Observers; Shevaughn Shay and Jill Sheltra. Two new Juniors Branden Byther and Karina Corbeil.  Our current end strength is 62 members. It's been about 10-years since our numbers have been over 60!

Call Volume: As of 6/17/2016; we've run 326 calls for the year. About 25 behind this time last year. We ran 43 calls in May and for the first 17-days in June we've run 47 calls.  Monday, June 6th, we ran 9 calls in a 24-hour period.

York Hospital:  Our transports to York are increasing, twice this year. I've been asked if we transport to York.  Yes, we do.  The travel distance to York is no different than going to Portland.

Resuscitation Officer Program:  This program is designed to train hospital and EMS management to educate and prepare the community to deliver the most effective CPR; Improve EMS response, EMS care and transition through hospital admission; Organize Code Teams and Review Committees; Coordinate evaluation, review, and debrief cardiac arrest events; Deploy tools to improve quality of resuscitation (ETCO2, Cerebral Oximetry, Ultrasound); Improve post-cardiac arrest care: Targeted Temperature Management, PCI, and ECMO; Effectively train, conduct mock codes, and comprehensive CQI. The course is 8-hours on September 9th at Maine Medical Center.  If interested submit a training request.    FMI Click Here
