NEAR MISS REPORT OF THE WEEK: 31 JANUARY 2018. Most of us test fire hose and apparatus pumps annually, and it’s probably looked at as a routine task. What looks routine can be more dangerous than it seems. Stored pressure and flying fittings can quickly make the day a lot less routine. http://www.firefighternearmiss.com/Reports/?Cat=17
----
FY19 Budget:  Last Wednesday night the Fire Commission voted on my proposed budget for next year. The proposed budget now goes to each Town's Boards of Selectmen and Budget Committees for their approval.  The Fire Commission has recommended: a 2% Cost of Living Adjustment for all FD employees; Adding 84 hours a week of per diem coverage. This would give us two Firefighters on duty 24 hours a day. Our operating budget remains pretty much the same. It has an increase which covers increased costs of diesel fuel. The Commission also recommended replacing E81 and E84 with a single pumper-tanker on a lease purchase plan.  Again, this is step one in the process. Next is Selectmen and Budget Committees then Town Meetings in June.  February 22nd is tentatively set for the next budget meeting.

BUY A BRICK!  Commemorative bricks are on sale now to raise funds for the memorial upgrade. You can purchase a brick in memory of any one or any group that you'd like. The bricks will be used to create a walk way and a backwall around the flag poles and memorial at the station.
