Firefighter Near Miss: Cardiac Event Opens Firefighter’s Eyes.
Summary: In this report, a firefighter experiences the classic symptoms of a heart attack after working on multiple incidents over a period of days. The firefighter took the symptoms seriously and was successfully treated and recovered. Review Near Miss Cardiac Risks PowerPoint with this Report of the Week as a tabletop exercise with your crew.

SIGNATURES ON PCR's:   I received a request from our billing company. We're getting a bit lax on getting our PCR's signed. The EMS Provider AND the patient (or patient's representative) are required to sign the PCR.  Without the required signatures, or an explanation of why the signature is missing, insurance companies don't have to pay the bill.
-----
ILLEGAL BURNING:  Seems we're getting more calls for unpermitted campfires, or to be more exact, unpermitted campfires not properly extinguished.  All calls for burning without a permit will be referred to the Forest Service.

Top 3 takeaways from NFPA 2017 LODD Report. By Marc Bashoor
The recently released NFPA report of 2017 firefighter fatalities is both encouraging and troubling. Clearly, the efforts of many of our industry partners have had an effect on reducing our mortality numbers – the 60 on-duty deaths in 2017 reflect the lowest number reported in over 40 years. However, some of the unexpected shifts identify room for improvement.
