Line of Duty Death:  So far this year, about 1.65 firefighters have died each week. That's 76 this year. I read these LODD e-mails every week. Every now-and-then one really hits home for me. Like this one.  "While driving his personal vehicle to the fire station to respond to a structure fire, Firefighter Dustin Grubbs was involved in a motor vehicle accident. During the accident, the vehicle left the road during a turn, hit a light pole and flipped over. Grubbs passed away on scene from the injuries sustained.
Age: 34; Gender: Male; Status: Volunteer; Years of Service: 2; Date of Incident: Nov. 3, 2018
Date of Death: Nov. 3, 2018".
This incident occurred in Magee, Mississippi. It could have easily been Goodwins Mills, Maine. I beg each and everyone of you, PLEASE, drive the speed limit, drive for conditions, stay off your cell phone. Don't put this department, this community and above all your family through something like this!  Everyone Goes Home!  Right?

Sunday is Veteran's Day, November 11th. Which is actually the day World War I ended. 100 years ago, this year.   The war to end all wars. Well, that didn't quite happen.  In American 11/11 has become the day that we honor and recognize all our military veterans. Those who took a solemn oath "....to support and defend the Constitution of the United States..."   Not only did we serve and fight for our Country and its Citizens; as it says in our oath, we also served to defend the ideals of the U.S. Constitution and the freedoms it guarantees to all American Citizens.  We are a very blessed people.

Have a great weekend.
Chief
