Firefighter Near Miss: Chainsaw Narrowly Misses Crew in Attic.
Summary: Look, listen and look again! This concept is the theme of this week’s Report of the Week. The report reinforces that firefighters must maintain acute situational awareness during active firefighting operations and training for roof ventilation.
Event Description: At a two-alarm fire, we knocked down the fire on the second floor and were assigned to check for extension into the attic. While I was crawling in the attic with the other firefighters, one of them screamed at us to look out. A ladder company was cutting a hole in the roof, and the chainsaw came between myself and the other firefighter.

We've started 2019 off with a bang. It's been busy. Thank you everyone who's stepped up to respond. Call force turnout has been terrific. Not only to calls, but for training as well. There's been a lot of activity and interest in getting Ladder 82 in service. THANK YOU! I keep hearing good words from folks in town regarding the service they're getting. Most recently, a Walker Road family was very happy for help with removing water from their basement. Each of you make our community a better place to live.

Have a great weekend! Stay warm!
Chief
