Weekly Update for Friday, May 17, 2019

OPEN SHIFTS: Sunday 5/26 0700-1900, must be an EMT. June: Mon 6/24 0700-1900 & 1900-0700.  Wed 6/26 0700-1900.

Duty Officer: Tonight: Lt Mouzas. Tomorrow: Capt Daniels. Sunday: Lt Tarbell.
Duty Chief this weekend: AChf Duross. Duty Chief next week: DChf Harris.

I finished week 1 of the Fire Officer III and IV course. Ton of homework this weekend and then back at it on Monday. There are 17 of us in the class, from as far away as Presque Isle. Our instructor is from Texas. He's getting a real education on how things are done in Maine. He talks about 4-person engine companies. We talk about 4-person shifts.

Congratulations are in store for: FF Groetzinger for EVO1 qualification and completing the Basic EMT course;  our SMCC fire science graduates; FF's St. Germain an, Eichel; our SMCC paramedic graduates FF's Fowlie and Hilton; our KVCC paramedic grads Lt Tarbell and FF Cole; our recent Fire Instructor I/II grads Capt Martin, Lt Tarbell, Lt Pendleton, FFs Fowlie and Guillemette; and to AChf Duross on completing his associate's degree from Columbia Southern. BBQ dinner for our graduates is on June 4th.

Memorial Day Parade:  We need help getting ready for the parade. We need drivers, etc. Please contact Capt Martin.

Basic Fire School:  The BFS course will start on May 22nd.  Lt Steiner has done a great job getting this all organized. Thank you to everyone who has stepped up to help teach.

Engine 83:  It should be ready for pick-up early next week.
