DUTY OFFICER: Tonight: Capt Martin. Tomorrow: Capt Daniels. Sunday Lt Mouzas.
Duty Chief this weekend: Chief Hooper. Duty Chief next week: DChf Harris.
-----
ON-CALL FIREFIGHTER (OCFF): On weekends when the Duty Officer is assigned to an on-duty shift, an on-call firefighter is put on the calendar. This is a firefighter who is on-call and available to respond to calls. On-call pay is authorized. Contact Lt Pendleton for more information and scheduling. By-the-way, there are openings for the OCFF this weekend.
-----
GOOD JOB on a DIFFICULT CALL: As you know last Wednesday we responded on a unusual and difficult call. LT Mouzas was the IC and did a superb job with the family and our responders. Chaplain Bove's assistance was once again indispensable. The professionalism by all who responded was second-to-none. Thank you everyone. You make our community a better place to live.
If you want to talk about the call, I encourage you to do so (HIPAA rules considered, of course). Find someone you trust and talk about what's on your mind.
------
HOT: The weekend is setting up to be very hot. Temps over 100 degrees, with very high humidity. Stay hydrated!
------
Kennebunk Pond Association: The KPA will be meeting at the fire station tomorrow morning at 1000.
-------
MX207: Is open this weekend, Saturday 12-6 and Sunday 10-4.
-------
LADDER 82: It's out of service for a coolant leak. Anticipate it to be back in service by Tuesday.
-------
AMBULANCE 85: Please keep an eye open for fuel leaks. The fuel tank is showing some signs of corrosion and could begin to seep fuel and anytime. We are looking into a replacement fuel tank.
-------
BASIC PUMP OPERATORS COURSE (BPOC): We're planning a BPOC course here in Goodwins Mills in August. Tentative dates are August 5th, 8th, 12th and 15th. Stand by for more details.
-------
PER DIEM QUALIFICATIONS: I set August 1st as the deadline for upgrading qualifications for templeted per diem shifts. Given our current staffing situation, that deadline will be extended to October 1st. I am open to provisionally qualifying individuals who have completed green book tasks and are held up by non-availability of a formal BPOC or aerials class.
-------
SECOND QUARTER REPORT: My operations report for the second quarter of 2019 is posted on the website www.gmfd.org under "Chief's Reports".
-------
CALL VOLUME: As of 1400 today, we've run 423 calls. We're about 20 calls behind from this point last year. However, we've treated 273 patients. About 10 more than at this point last year. And in the last two weeks alone, we've has six back-to-back calls.
--------
HIRING PROCESS: Our search to fill our full time vacancies is moving along. Last night 8 applicants were interviewed and 4 were selected to move on to the second interview, which is scheduled for Wednesday, 7/24. I am hoping to have this wrapped by by Friday, 7/26.
Thank you to those of you who assisted with the PAT's last Friday and Saturday and to those of you who served on the interview panels. Thanks!
--------
