Weekly Update for Friday, July 5, 2019 (Sent on Monday, July 8, 2019)

I neglected to finish the blog on Friday. I had intentions of a long weekend.

Thank you everyone who responded to Sanford's 2nd alarm fires. And to those of you who covered in-town.  We had a rather busy holiday weekend.  I post this to our Facebook page yesterday;

This 4th of July weekend the GMFR answered 18 calls for service. 10 medical, 3 wires down, 1 motor vehicle crash, 4 fires which includes assisting Sanford FD on both of their 2nd alarm fires. We issued 18 burning permits too. Above all that, we send our most sincere sympathies to the men and woman of the Wells FD and to the family of Chief Wayne Vetre.
----
Chief Wayne Vetre, Wells FD:  As you know Chief Vetre passed away on Friday following a long battle with cancer.  As soon as I have the service arrangements, I'll pass them along.

Physical Agility Test: Our PAT is scheduled for the morning of Saturday, July 13th. This test is being done for everyone who's currently on probation, and applicants for the full-time vacancies.
I do need some volunteers to help set-up an run the PAT.
-----
Waterboro Ladder 1:  WFD's ladder will be out of service for an extended time. Which means we'll move up on the response order for sections Waterboro, Alfred and Hollis. For those of you close to finishing up on your EVO3 qual, it would be very much appreciated if you could hurry that along.
-----
Hydrant maintenance: I want to thank Capt Martin and crew for cleaning up our hydrants last weekend and getting the radio tower site cleaned up yesterday.
