Equipment Changes (E83 & E84)
-- ENGINE 83:
1) RIC Bottle & Rope Pack have been added to the Officer Side Middle Compartment. This will remain here as this is our Mutual Aid & Heavy Rescue unit.
2) The KED was moved to the front coffin compartment with the scoop stretcher.
3) Two buckets of speedy dry were added to the rear compartment, making a total of three (5 gallon) buckets.
-- ENGINE 84:
1) Chimney bucket equipment was added to the Driver Side 2nd tall compartment. The wooden holder for the Jaws was taken out and will be available to place in the compartment when E83 is taken out of service. (Temporary until new L82 is placed in service)
2) The wheel chocks were moved to the rear driver side compartment.
The inventory sheets have been updated to reflect these changes.
Reference General Notice: 18-1597.
-----Chimney Fire Responses: Our current run card calls for 2 engines, 1 ladder and 1 tanker.
E84 & E83 are the two engines assigned. Engine 84 is first due and must depart the station first. Since it now carries all our chimney equipment. Once the new Ladder 82 is put into service, this will change. For now, E84 is first due for chimney fires.

Firefighter near miss: Firefighter Sideswiped By Car
While working at the scene of a motor vehicle accident, a car drove through the scene, grazing the lieutenant.
Event Description: Fire, law enforcement and EMS crews were operating at the scene of a motor vehicle accident. As additional units arrived, an engine and police car needed to be moved to make room for a truck company. The police officer started to back his vehicle. The lieutenant then tried to get in the officer's mirror to get his attention that it was okay to back up and he would not hit the engine. As the lieutenant was spotting the officer, a jeep struck the lieutenant with his windshield/mirror and his rear tire. He was able to pull his ankle and foot away from the rear passenger tire after being struck and moved to his right to avoid further injury.
The vehicle quickly moved through the intersection and continued through traffic, leaving the scene.
