OPEN SHIFTS: August: Friday 8/16 1900-0700 need and EMT. September: Monday 9/2 0700-1900 & 1900-0700. Wednesday 9/16 0700-1900. Monday 9/30 0700-1900 and 1900-0700. Please send your availability to AChf Duross.
-----
DUTY OFFICER: Tonight and Saturday: Lt Mouzas. Sunday: AChf Duross. Firefighter on-call: None. Duty Chief this weekend: Chf Hooper. Duty Chief next week: DChf Harris.
-----
FORESTRY 87:  While responding to a call this morning, Forestry 87 was hit by another vehicle at the Jackson's Corner intersection.  The crew on F87 is OK. Arundel A300  transported the operator of the other vehicle to MMC. Alfred A91 evaluated our two. The State Police are preparing a report. I am going to have the Deputy do an internal inquiry. I have submitted an insurance claim and am waiting on an adjuster to come look at the truck.  Needless to say, it's going to be out of service for awhile.
-----
FITNESS ROOM:  This project is moving along. The Chaplain will be prepping it for paint soon. I'm sure he could use some help.
-----
BPOC CLASS: Basic Pumps class starts Monday 8/12 at 1800.
------
AERIAL OPERATIONS CLASS: Lt Tarbell is organizing an Aerials class for the October time frame. More to follow.
------
LADDER 82 CORROSION REPAIRS:  The Selectmen have approved funding to have the corrosion on Ladder 82 repaired. Capt Johnston is making arrangements to have that work done.
I anticipate the truck to be out of service for about 3-weeks.
------
EMS COORDINATOR: We have had a vacant captain's slot for sometime now. That slot will become the EMS Coordinator's positions. Lt Tarbell is our only line officer who holds the qualifications for this position. As of 0830 this morning, Lt Tarbell has been assigned as our EMS Coordinator. FF/P Fowlie will remain our CQI Coordinator. Lt Tarbell will be filling this role in his current rank. His tasking is to lead the EMS Planning Team, oversee EMS CQI Committee, coordinate EMS operations, ambulance & EMS equipment readiness. This appointment does create a company officer vacancy. I will be posting for applications to fill that vacancy soon.
------
FAMILY DAY:  August 24th.  Sign up is on the bulletin board.
------

It's been a long day. It started with an overdose death, fire engine crash, couple medicals runs and a search for a body in the Saco River. August has shaped up to be an unusual month.

Luckily today, we just lost a fire truck. It can be repaired. None of our Firefighters were injured. So, all-in-all it was a good day. Everyone came home.

Take care, be safe,
Chief
